French Rose onions are crunchy and sweet when raw, soft and fruity when cooked. They are sweet and mild in flavour, yet faintly pungent. They are commonly used for French onion soup, but you can use them in place of any sweet onion. They are perfect for our favourite underrated easy meal: the onion sandwich! Slice the onion into thin rings, season with salt and chopped lovage or parsley, and dress the sandwich with mayonnaise or butter.
