Jess and Graham, lifelong friends and business partners, opened Hard Winter Bakery in 2014 in Peterborough's East City neighbourhood. Every loaf is 100% sourdough, built on their in-house starter and a slow 24 hour ferment.
Currant and Orange is a lightly sweet, mostly white sourdough studded with currants and bright orange zest. It makes the most wonderful Sunday morning French toast, and it is just as good toasted with butter, torn into a bread pudding, or set out on a cheese board when you want to graze.
