Buckwheat honey is dark in colour, and features a strong malty, molasses flavour. Great for baking, glazing on meats, in stew, or perfect in coffee.

FACT: Honeybees tend to prefer other floral crop over buckwheat. We are required to grow 20-40 acres in close proximity to the colonies to obtain this flavour as dark and rich as we do. Buckwheat is traditionally used as a cover crop/green manure and is tilled under the soil before it flowers. We are required to partner with farmers who allow the crop to flower to capture this nectar source.

PREDICTED FLORAL SOURCE: Buckwheat.

OUR GUARANTEE: This honey is 100% local and unpasteurized.

We are 3rd generation beekeepers who aim to connect the local community to their native & non-native pollinators, managing over 200 colonies throughout Millbrook, Kawartha Lakes & Scugog. We have collective beekeeping experience of almost 10 years and have been operating our farm full time since 2018. We produce a variety of floral sourced honey, as well as a unique line of creamed honey, infused honey, and nutrient packed pollen products. We also hand-pour beeswax candles & produce reusable beeswax food wraps. Our on-farm offerings include various tours, workshops, seminars, honey tastings and hive sponsorships. We have developed pollinator garden trails, education plans/seminars, crop plans which benefit native & non-native bees, and running the first Junior Beekeeper program in Canada. It is our passion to teach and connect with youth & adults in our community and get them excited about beekeeping.
