Napa Cabbage, when compared to other cabbages, is a less pungent and more mildly tasting cabbage with slightly sweet tasting notes. This cabbage is more oblong in shape than others, and its leaves are a lighter green with crinkled layers. Napa Cabbage is ready for harvest in Ontario by October.

Napa Cabbage is a staple in Asian cuisines and has many uses. It can be pickled, fermented, roasted, sauteed, stir-fried, boiled, or eaten raw in salads. It is traditionally used to make kimchi or as a wrap for dipping pork or oysters in gochujang.

Napa Cabbage originates from the Yangtze River region of China, where it has been cultivated since the 15th century. Its cultivation spread to Europe, where it was then sent to America in the 16th Century. Napa Cabbage is a cool season annual vegetable which grows best when the days are short and mild.
