The 'Melody' variety has smooth, yellow skin and dry, yellow flesh. This variety is best suited to boiling, mashing, baking, pan-frying, and grilling. 

This variety was bred by JPM Muijsers of Meijer Research BV breeding station in Rilland, Netherlands in 1988 as the result of a cross between VE74-45 and W72-22-496. It entered the European market in 2001 and the Canadian market in March 2008. This potato breeder also bred the 'Jazzy' and 'Musica' varieties.
