Hunnabees
Dave and Keri are third generation beekeepers who own and operate Hunnabees. Keri and Dave are on a mission to educate and equip both beekeepers and the public to best help pollinators thrive, by promoting ethical and responsible beekeeping with an emphasis on education and our environment. They aim to reduce the impact of the farm and honey production through continued innovation and striving to minimize waste.
Keri and Dave first began their beekeeping journey on Scugog Island, and purchased their 100 acre farm in Millbrook in 2016. In 2017, Dave and Keri broke ground on their 6,000 square foot education facility, then tackled their business in 2018. Hunnabees fosters crops that are pollinator friendly, including milkweed, coneflower, lavender, borage, and more. The farm features acres of wildflowers, and they plant to new flowers for each jar of natural honey that sells! Thanks to their 300 square foot greenhouse addition, Hunnabees was able to scale their flower production through the spring, and are planning to develop another 10 acres of native meadows over the fall.
Hunnabees has teamed up with local farmers and landowners, and now has nine bee yards located throughout Peterborough, Scugog, and the Kawartha Lakes region. They're excited to continue to expand for the 2022 season!
