Wild Hen-of-the-Woods (Maitake) Mushroom

Hen-of-the-Woods is a wild edible poypore mushroom that grows at the base of trees. It has a wonderful savoury flavour and meaty texture that works well for most culinary applications.

You might know it as "Maitake", which is it's Japanese name and means "dancing mushroom".

These mushrooms are great to saute, roast or grill. They can be cooked on their own or added to pies, casseroles, omelettes, stews, or more!
