Clancey and Gale's Maple Products
Clancey and Gale’s Maple Products are following an early family tradition from the 1930’s of producing maple syrup. At that time maple sap was collected in pails, emptied into vats and brought back to a sugar shack with horses and wagons. In 2012, Clancey and Gale started their own maple sap collection using pipelines on their own property and at other local woodlots. The number of taps has grown over the years to 2,200 taps. Thirty percent of their maple sap is trucked back to the sugar house; the remaining is pumped directly to the holding tanks at the sugar house. Clancey and Gale use a reverse osmosis machine to remove almost 75% of the water from the maple sap, reducing boil times and energy needed to produce the maple syrup. They boil the maple sap with an oil-fired maple syrup evaporator.
As active members of the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association (OMSPA) Clancey and Gale adhere to the ‘best practices manual’ of sustainable woodlot management ensuring future generations will be able to enjoy this natural resource.
