Huckleberry Gold potatoes are a small, round purple skinned variety with yellow flesh and a soft, creamy texture. The are comparable to Yukon Gold potatoes in flavour, texture, and cooking, but with a lower glycemic index.
Huckleberry Gold is a cultivar of Agria, which is a yellow-fleshed German variety, and was developed by the Northwest (Tri-State) Potato Variety Development Program in 2003. These little colourful gems are ready to harvest in Ontario in the late summer.
