The 'Jazzy' potato varietal is a moist and waxy fingerling with smooth yellow skin and firm yellow flesh that has a slightly sweet and creamy taste and texture. This newer variety is more versatile than other salad potatoes, can be eaten with the skin, and can be boiled (lightly, not hard boiled), mashed, roasted, and steamed. This early season variety has really big yields and was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit in 2013 for its superb garden performance.
First sold in the UK in 2014, this cultivar is highly popular in Europe. It was bred by JPM Muijsers at the C. Meijer BV Breeding Station in Rilland, Netherlands in 1998 as the result of a cross between the 'Franceline' and 'Cupido' cultivars. This breeding station also bred the 'Melody' and 'Musica' potato varietals.
